What does this fault code mean?
The CEM controls the foldable head restraint on the rear seat. The fault is stored when the output gives too weak a signal or none at all.
Possible causes
- The signal wire is short-circuited to earth
- Open circuit
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2Try to fold the head restraint with the function button and check whether it moves, then clear the fault code
- 3Check the signal wire to the head restraint for chafing and pinch damage, and the connectors at the head restraint
- 4With the connectors disconnected, use a multimeter to check that the signal wire has no contact with earth (the body)
- 5If the fault remains after these checks, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the head restraint and the control module
Symptoms you may notice1
- The foldable head restraint on the rear seat cannot be folded
