Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:

What does this fault code mean?
This fault code only applies to cars with automatic engine start/stop. The CEM monitors the voltage from the secondary battery, and the fault is stored when the value is wrong for too long. Common causes are poor connections, a damaged fuse, or a weak or damaged battery.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connections
- Damaged fuse for the power supply
- Open circuit in the supply wire from the secondary battery
- Open circuit in the earth wire of the secondary battery
- Poorly charged battery or corroded connection cables
- Damaged battery
What you can do
- 1Check that the battery is fully charged and is not swollen or leaking
- 2Check the connections to the secondary battery: corroded or loose terminals should be cleaned and tightened
- 3Check that the fuse for the power supply from the secondary battery is intact
- 4Check the earth wire from the secondary battery for breaks and loose connectors
- 5If the fault returns after these checks, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the battery and the wiring
Symptoms you may notice2
- The automatic start/stop function does not work while driving
- The automatic start/stop function does not work at idle
