Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:

Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
The CEM communicates with the rear reading light (RRL) over the LIN bus. The fault is stored when the message from the reading light is faulty, so that its checksum does not match. The fault affects the lighting in the passenger compartment.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance, oxidation or poor contact in the connector terminals and connections
- Damaged rear reading light (RRL)
What you can do
- 1Check that the rear reading light receives power and has a good earth point
- 2Check the connectors at the reading light and the wire on the LIN bus for chafing and loose connections
- 3If other fault codes in the same control module on the same LIN bus end in 86 or 88, give them priority, as they point to a bus fault
- 4If the fault remains after these checks, have a workshop replace the rear reading light
Symptoms you may notice1
- The lighting in the passenger compartment does not work
