What does this fault code mean?
The CEM communicates with the rear reading light (RRL) over the LIN bus. The fault is stored when communication with the reading light is missing, which means the passenger compartment lighting cannot be controlled from the CEM.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the communication wire to the rear reading light
- Contact resistance, oxidation or poor contact in the connector terminals and connections
- The rear reading light is not receiving power
- Damaged rear reading light (RRL)
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact and that the reading light receives power
- 2Check the connectors at the reading light: loose or oxidised connectors should be cleaned and pressed in
- 3Check the communication wire to the reading light for breaks and chafing
- 4Use a multimeter to check that voltage is present at the reading light connector with the ignition on
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check or replace the rear reading light
Symptoms you may notice1
