VOLVO
CEM-B1A6313 - Right Solar Sensor. General Electrical Failures. Circuit open
System
Central Electronic Module (CEM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
7 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The right solar sensor is connected to the CEM, which checks the sensor signal. The fault is stored when the circuit is open, and the climate control then gets no usable information from the sensor.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the solar sensor circuit
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses for the climate control are intact
- 2Check that the solar sensor is not covered, damaged or dirty
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the wire to the solar sensor is continuous between the connector ends
- 4Check the connectors at the solar sensor and at the CEM for loose connections, chafing and pinch damage
- 5If you have a diagnostic tool, check in live data that the solar sensor value changes when you cover and uncover it
- 6If the fault remains, have a workshop replace the solar sensor or check the control module
Symptoms you may notice3
- The air conditioning does not cool enough in the front part of the cabin
- The climate control does not work as it should
- The cabin temperature does not drop when the sun is shining strongly
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
