VOLVO
CEM-B1C7912 - Front Washer Pump Relay Coil Circuit. General Electrical Failures. Circuit short to battery
System
Central Electronic Module (CEM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
7 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The central electronic module (CEM) activates the washer pump by connecting the control line of one of two pump relays in the passenger compartment fuse box to ground. The code is set when the control signal to the windscreen washer relay is high, meaning it is in contact with voltage, while the output is active.
Possible causes
- The control wire to the relay is in contact with voltage (short to voltage)
- Damaged relay
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the code, then test the washer for both the windscreen and the rear window
- 2Check that the fuses for the washer pump in the passenger compartment fuse box are intact
- 3Use a multimeter to see whether the control wire to the relay has voltage with the ignition off
- 4Check that the connectors at the relay and in the passenger compartment fuse box are tight and free from oxidation
- 5If the wire is sound, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check and replace the relay if needed
Symptoms you may notice2
- The windscreen washer does not work
- The windscreen washing is poor
