Applies to the following models:

What does this fault code mean?
The central electronic module (CEM) supplies the headlight washer motor. The code is set when the output signal is out of range: it is too low with an open circuit in the supply wire or a short to ground, but it can also be too high.
Possible causes
- Open circuit on the supply wire to the washer motor
- The supply wire is shorted to ground
What you can do
- 1Clear the code and check whether it comes back after a new driving cycle
- 2Check the headlight washer fuse in the engine bay fuse box
- 3Check that the connectors in the supply circuit to the washer motor are fully engaged and not corroded
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the supply wire is intact and has no contact with ground (the bodywork)
- 5If you have a diagnostic tool, check whether the washing shows as active in the live data when you start it
Symptoms you may notice3
- The headlight washer motor does not work
- The washer motor cannot be switched off
- Headlight cleaning does not work
What the fault can affect2
- After repeated driving cycles with the fault, the function is switched off permanently
- Clearing the fault codes resets the output
