Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
7 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The central electronic module (CEM) checks the alarm status LED on the instrument panel. The code is set when the supply wire to the LED is shorted to ground, and then the status panel may show a fault.
Possible causes
- The supply wire to the alarm LED is shorted to ground
What you can do
- 1Clear the code and check whether it comes back after a new driving cycle
- 2Look for chafing on the supply wire to the alarm LED, especially where the wiring harness is fixed
- 3Check that the connectors in the circuit are fully seated and not corroded
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the supply wire has no contact with ground (the bodywork)
- 5If the wire is intact, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the LED and the control module
Symptoms you may notice1
- The alarm LED and status panel show a fault
What the fault can affect3
- The function switches off during the driving cycle in which the fault is detected
- After repeated driving cycles with the fault, the function is switched off permanently
- Clearing the fault codes and starting a new driving cycle resets the output
