CEM-B1D0015 - Left Low Beam. General Electrical Failures. Circuit short to battery or open
System
Central Electronic Module (CEM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
2 modelsV40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–)
Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
The central electronic module (CEM) powers the left low beam directly through an output. The code is set when the signal to the low beam lamp is too high or missing, which can be caused by a short to voltage or an open circuit in the signal wire.
Possible causes
- The signal wire to the low beam lamp is shorted to voltage
- Open circuit in the signal wire
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the code, then switch on the low beam and see whether the lamp lights
- 2Check that the low beam fuse is intact
- 3Use a multimeter to see whether the signal wire has voltage with the ignition off, which shows a short to voltage
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire is continuous between its two ends
- 5If the wire is intact, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the module output
Symptoms you may notice3
- Yellow warning symbol and text message in the display
- The bulb failure warning in the instruments comes on or behaves abnormally
- The left low beam does not work
