Applies to the following models:
9 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The central electronic module (CEM) feeds the right turn indicator through an output. The code is set when the signal from the output is too low, which is caused by the supply wire being shorted to ground. Because the supply is shared, both the front and rear indicators on the right side can be affected.
Possible causes
- The supply wire to the right turn indicator is shorted to ground
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the code, then switch on the right indicator and see whether both lamps work
- 2Check that the indicator fuse is intact
- 3Look for chafing on the supply wire to the right indicator, especially where it may have touched the bodywork
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the supply wire has no contact with ground (the bodywork)
- 5If you have a diagnostic tool, activate the right indicator with it and check that both lamps light; otherwise have a workshop check the control module
Symptoms you may notice4
- The right front indicator does not work
- The right rear indicator does not work
- Text message in the display
- The bulb failure warning in the instruments comes on or behaves abnormally
What the fault can affect3
- The function switches off during the driving cycle in which the fault is detected
- After repeated driving cycles with the fault, the function is switched off permanently
- Clearing the fault codes and starting a new driving cycle resets the output
