What does this fault code mean?
The central electronic module (CEM) feeds several lights and functions from one shared output, including the door handle lighting, the floor lighting and some roof lights. The code is set when the signal from the output is too low, which is caused by the supply wire being shorted to ground.
Possible causes
- The supply wire to the shared-supply lights is shorted to ground
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the code, then switch on the interior lighting and see which lamps work
- 2Check that the interior lighting fuse is intact
- 3Look for chafing on the supply wire that runs to the door handle lighting and the floor lighting
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the supply wire has no contact with ground (the bodywork)
- 5If you have a diagnostic tool, activate the interior lighting and see which lamps light; otherwise have a workshop check the module output
Symptoms you may notice1
- The interior lighting does not work
What the fault can affect3
- The function switches off during the driving cycle in which the fault is detected
- After repeated driving cycles with the fault, the function is switched off permanently
- Clearing the fault codes and starting a new driving cycle resets the output
