What does this fault code mean?
The central electronic module (CEM) monitors the signal from the hazard warning switch. The code is set when the switch has been activated for too long, which may mean that it is stuck in the active position or is damaged. The check runs all the time, so the fault can be detected even when the hazard lights are not in use.
Possible causes
- The hazard warning switch is stuck in the active position
- Damaged switch
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the code, then switch the hazard lights on and off a few times and see whether the switch returns to off
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool, check in the live data that the hazard switch signal changes when you press it
- 3Check that the connectors at the switch are fully seated and not corroded
- 4Have a workshop replace the switch if it stays stuck in the active position
