What does this fault code mean?
The control module (CEM) exchanges messages with the windscreen wiper module (WMM). The code is set when the wiper motor draws too much current, which is most often because the wipers are stuck or running stiffly, for instance because of snow or dry glass.
Possible causes
- The windscreen wiper is stuck or running stiffly, for instance because of snow or dry glass
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the code, then run the wipers and listen for whether they run stiffly or stop
- 2Clear snow and ice from the wiper blades and around the wiper arms before driving
- 3Check that the wiper blades and arms move freely and are not bent
- 4Check that the wiper blades are not frozen to the glass or worn
- 5If the fault returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the wiper motor
Symptoms you may notice2
- Automatic wipers with the rain sensor do not work
- The windscreen wiper does not work
