What does this fault code mean?
The control module (CEM) exchanges messages with the windscreen wiper module (WMM), which controls the wipers. The code is set when the control module detects that its internal components are not working. One possible cause is battery acid leaking from the alarm siren and disturbing the LIN network, or the WMM being damaged.
Possible causes
- Battery acid leaks from the alarm siren control module (SCM) and disturbs communication on the LIN network
- Damaged windscreen wiper control module (WMM)
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the code, then test the wipers
- 2Look for traces of battery acid or corrosion in the engine bay and at the alarm siren; battery acid is corrosive, so wear protective gloves and have a workshop deal with it
- 3Check the windscreen wiper fuse
- 4Have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the LIN network and the WMM if the fault remains
Symptoms you may notice1
- The windscreen wiper does not work
