CEM-C110801 - Pedal Sensor(s) Supply Voltage. General Failure Information. General electrical failure
System
Central Electronic Module (CEM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
7 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The central electronic module (CEM) supplies the clutch pedal sensor and the throttle pedal sensor. The fault code is general and is set when the module detects an electrical fault in the supply, such as a short to ground or to battery voltage. The cruise control may then be switched off.
Possible causes
- The supply to the pedal sensors is shorted to ground
- The supply to the pedal sensors is shorted to battery voltage
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the code, then check that the cruise control can be engaged when it is safe to do so
- 2Check the fuse for the pedal sensor supply
- 3Check the connectors at the clutch pedal sensor and the accelerator pedal for oxidation and loose connections
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the supply wire has no contact with ground (the bodywork) and no voltage with the ignition off
- 5Have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the sensors and the control module if the wiring is intact
Symptoms you may notice1
- The cruise control cannot be engaged
What the fault can affect3
- The cruise control is switched off
- After repeated driving cycles with the fault, the function is switched off permanently
- Clearing the fault codes and starting a new driving cycle resets the output
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
