VOLVO
CEM-C112011 - Reversing lamp. General Electrical Failures. Circuit short to ground
System
Central Electronic Module (CEM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
7 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The central electronic module (CEM) monitors the voltage supply to the reversing lights. The code is set when the signal from the output is too low, which can be caused by poor contact in the connections or a signal wire shorted to ground.
Possible causes
- Poor contact, oxidation or play in the connections
- The signal wire is shorted to ground
What you can do
- 1Clear the code and check the reversing lights by engaging reverse gear
- 2Check that the reversing light bulbs are intact
- 3Check the reversing light fuse
- 4Check the connections to the reversing lights for oxidation and play
- 5Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire has no contact with ground (the bodywork); otherwise have a workshop check the module output
Symptoms you may notice1
- The reversing lights do not work
What the fault can affect3
- The function switches off during the driving cycle in which the fault is detected
- After repeated driving cycles with the fault, the function is switched off permanently
- Clearing the fault codes and starting a new driving cycle resets the output
