CEM-C1A4122 - Clutch Pedal Sensor. General Signal Failures. Signal too high
System
Central Electronic Module (CEM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
7 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The CEM monitors the signal from the clutch pedal position sensor. The code is set when the voltage on the signal wire is too high, which can be caused by a short to voltage or a damaged sensor. The cruise control is then switched off, and
Possible causes
- The signal wire is shorted to voltage
- Damaged clutch pedal position sensor
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the code and check whether it returns after the ignition is switched off and on
- 2Check the connections at the clutch pedal sensor for oxidation and loose contacts
- 3Use a multimeter to see whether the signal wire from the sensor has voltage with the ignition off
- 4Look for chafed wires and damaged insulation on the wire to the sensor
- 5If the wire is intact, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the sensor and the control module
Symptoms you may notice1
- The cruise control does not work at all
What the fault can affect1
- The cruise control is switched off
