Volvo models this fault code applies to
This fault code has different meanings depending on model, model year or engine. Select the meaning that applies to your car.
Applies to the following models:
7 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The signal from a tire pressure sensor has become too weak, or it cannot be interpreted correctly. The code does not say which wheel is affected, and on these models the sensor positions cannot be determined. The fault may lie in any of the four sensors, in the remote receiver or in a sensor battery, so a diagnostic tool is needed to find which part it is.
Possible causes
- Internal fault in a tire pressure sensor
- Internal fault in the remote keyless entry (RKE) receiver
- Low battery in a tire pressure sensor
What you can do
- 1Read out and note the fault code with a diagnostic tool, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the remote control locks and unlocks the car. If the remote or receiver is not working, troubleshoot that first, since the tire signals are received through the receiver
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: read the frozen data for the code, note which sensor ID was stored and compare it with the IDs of the four wheels
- 4If a sensor has been fitted recently, make sure it has been activated from transport mode. This needs special equipment, so have a workshop do it
- 5If the fault returns after you have found the right sensor, replace it and have a workshop activate the new one
Symptoms you may notice1
- Yellow warning symbol and a message in the display
