What does this fault code mean?
The car could not automatically work out the position of the four tire pressure sensors. This code is probably a follow-on fault, set as a result of other faults, so the underlying fault should be fixed first. Once that is done the code can be cleared. It should not be troubleshot on its own.
Possible causes
- A fault in one of the wheel speed sensors' signal
- A tire pressure sensor not intended for this particular car is fitted
What you can do
- 1Read all fault codes with a diagnostic tool. Fix any codes for a wrong tire pressure sensor or the wheel speed sensors first
- 2Check that all four tire pressure sensors are intended for this car, and replace any foreign sensor with the correct one
- 3Check that the wires to the wheel speed sensors are secure and not chafed, and that the connectors at the wheels are clean
- 4Clear the fault code once the underlying fault is fixed, then road test to see whether it returns
- 5The wheel speed sensors feed the ABS: if the ABS lamp or brake warning lamp is on, have a workshop check the brake system promptly
Symptoms you may notice2
- Warning symbol and a message in the display
- The tire pressure warning comes on, or no indication is shown
