What does this fault code mean?
Messages from the left steering wheel buttons are sent over the LIN bus to the central module, and the control module has found them to be faulty. The check runs with the ignition on, and the fault is logged if the messages do not match. The cause may be poor contact in connectors or connections, and it mainly shows up in the cruise control.
Possible causes
- Poor contact, corrosion or a loose joint at a connector or wire splice
- The left steering wheel switch pack (SWSL) sends corrupt data over the LIN bus
What you can do
- 1Check whether the cruise control works after you switch the ignition off and on again. That shows whether the fault is intermittent
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool, read the frozen values and note the conditions that applied when the fault was logged, such as temperature
- 3Clear the fault code and road test to see whether it returns
- 4If the fault returns, have a workshop check the connectors and wiring at the steering wheel buttons. Work in the steering wheel involves the airbag, so do not work on it yourself
Symptoms you may notice1
- Cruise control does not engage
