This fault code has different meanings depending on model, model year or engine. Select the meaning that applies to your car.
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (2000–2008), V70 XC / XC70 (2001–2007), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The central module is losing contact with the light switch module and/or the parking heater module, because communication on the network is being disturbed. The fault may come from a signal wire short-circuited to voltage or ground, or from a damaged communication device in one of the control modules. It shows up at the light switch, the beam height control and the parking heater.
Possible causes
- The signal wire is short-circuited to voltage
- The signal wire is short-circuited to ground
- Internal fault in another control module on the same part of the network
What you can do
- 1Test the light switch and the parking heater and note which ones do not work
- 2With a multimeter, check that the signal wire between the control modules is not short-circuited to voltage or ground
- 3Check that the connectors in the wiring are secure and free from corrosion
- 4If the wire is intact, have a workshop replace the module for the light switch or the parking heater, one at a time, and check the function between each replacement
Symptoms you may notice3
- The light switch does not work
- The beam height control does not work
- The parking heater does not work
