Volvo models this fault code applies to
This fault code has different meanings depending on model, model year or engine. Select the meaning that applies to your car.
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (2000–2008), V70 XC / XC70 (2001–2007), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The signal wire between the central module and the light switch and/or the parking heater is short-circuited, either to voltage or to ground. Communication is therefore blocked, and the light switch, the beam height control and the parking heater may stop working. The fault lies in the wire, so that needs checking first.
Possible causes
- The signal wire is short-circuited to voltage
- The signal wire is short-circuited to ground
What you can do
- 1Follow the wire between the central module and the light switch and parking heater, and look for chafing, pinched areas and loose clips
- 2With a multimeter, check that the wire has no contact with the battery positive or with the car body
- 3Look at the connectors in the wiring for moisture or corrosion
- 4If the wire is intact, have a workshop check the light switch and the parking heater, since one of the control modules may be damaged
Symptoms you may notice3
- The light switch does not work
- The beam height control does not work
- The parking heater does not work
