Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsC30 (2007–2013), C30 Electric (2011–2013), C70 (2006–2013), S40 (2004–2013), V50 (2004–2013)
What does this fault code mean?
The central module monitors the battery monitoring sensor (BMS), which measures the battery's voltage, current, capacity and temperature. The code is logged when the central module gets no communication from the sensor while the engine is running. The cause may be a break in the LIN connection between the central module and the sensor, or a damaged sensor. The driver notices none of the fault.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the LIN connection between the central module and the battery monitoring sensor
- Damaged battery monitoring sensor
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact, using the owner's manual
- 2Check that the battery is in good condition and that the terminals are clean and tight
- 3Start the engine, clear the fault code and drive for a while to see whether the code returns
- 4If the fault returns, have a workshop check the LIN connection and the battery monitoring sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
