This fault code has different meanings depending on model, model year or engine. Select the meaning that applies to your car.
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsC30 (2007–2013), C30 Electric (2011–2013), C70 (2006–2013), S40 (2004–2013), V50 (2004–2013)
What does this fault code mean?
The central module gets no communication from the wiper motor module (WMM), so the wipers may behave wrongly. They may run continuously, not stop when switched off, or not work at all. The cause may be a break in the communication wire, contact resistance at the connections, no supply or ground to the module, or a defective module.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the communication wire to the wiper motor module (WMM)
- Contact resistance at the connections
- No supply or ground to the wiper motor module (WMM)
- Defective wiper motor module (WMM)
What you can do
- 1Check the wiper fuse in the engine bay box, per the manual. If blown, check the circuit after it for a short to ground first
- 2With a multimeter, follow the wire between the fuse box and the wiper motor module for breaks
- 3Check that the connections at the module are tight and clean
- 4If no fault shows in the wiring, have a workshop replace the wiper motor module
Symptoms you may notice3
- The wiper motor runs all the time
- The windshield wipers do not work
- The wipers do not stop when switched off
What the fault can affect2
- The wipers may run at high or low speed, or at short intervals, for a time
- The wipers may stop
