What does this fault code mean?
Communication between the central module and the steering wheel module (SWM) is disturbed. The fault may come from a short circuit or break in the LIN wire, or from an internal fault in another control module on the same part of the network. Several steering wheel controls may then stop working at the same time.
Possible causes
- Short circuit between the LIN wires
- Open circuit in one of the LIN wires
- Fault in another unit on the same LIN network
What you can do
- 1Check the wipers, washers, indicators and cruise control, and note which ones work
- 2The wires to the steering wheel module sit close to the airbag. Have a workshop check them
- 3If the fault returns after the wires have been checked, have a workshop replace the steering wheel module
Symptoms you may notice5
- The wipers only work at the lowest speed
- Washing of the front and rear screens does not work
- The indicator switch does not work
- Cruise control does not work at all
- Radio and phone controls on the steering wheel are inoperative
