What does this fault code mean?
The central module receives no reply from the additive dosing module (ADM). The fault shows as a message in the display. The cause may be a missing power supply or earth, contact resistance at connections, a break in the CAN wiring, or a module that is not intended for this car.
Possible causes
- No power supply to the additive dosing module (ADM)
- Open circuit in the earth lead to the additive dosing module (ADM)
- Contact resistance at the connections
- Open circuit in the CAN wiring to the additive dosing module (ADM)
- The dosing module does not belong to this car, e.g. a used unit with other software
What you can do
- 1Read the display and note whether a fault message for the dosing module appears
- 2Check the fuses for the additive dosing module, using the owner's manual
- 3Check the earth point of the module and look for corrosion or loose connectors
- 4With a diagnostic tool, try to read the module ID. If it can be read, CAN communication is probably fine and the fault may be intermittent
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the wiring and replace the module if needed
