What does this fault code mean?
The central module receives no communication from the keyless vehicle module (KVM), so the remote control and keyless functions do not work or work poorly. The cause may be a missing supply or earth, contact resistance at connections, a break in the CAN wiring to the central module, or a module that is not intended for this car.
Possible causes
- No voltage supply to the keyless vehicle module (KVM)
- Open circuit in the earth lead to the keyless vehicle module (KVM)
- Contact resistance at the connections
- Open circuit in the CAN wiring between the module and the central module
- The keyless vehicle module (KVM) is not intended for this car, for example a used module with different software
What you can do
- 1Check the fuses for the keyless vehicle module and the fuse in the relay and fuse box in the engine compartment, using the owner's manual
- 2With a multimeter, check that the supply wire has no break and no contact with ground, and that the earth wire has no break and no contact with voltage
- 3Check that the earth point of the module is clean, tight and free from oxidation
- 4With a diagnostic tool, try to read the module ID. If it can be read, CAN communication is probably fine and the fault may be temporary
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the CAN wiring and replace the module if needed
Symptoms you may notice2
- The car cannot be operated with the remote control
- Keyless functions are missing or work poorly
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
