CEM-P060400 - Internal Control Module Random Access Memory (RAM) Error. General Failure Information. No sub type information
System
Central Electronic Module (CEM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
7 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The CEM has detected a fault in its internal working memory (RAM) when the ignition is switched on. The fault is in the module itself rather than in the wiring, and the module normally has to be replaced. The code is generic and does not say which memory fault it is.
Possible causes
- Damaged central electronic module (CEM)
What you can do
- 1Make sure the battery is in good charge, since low voltage can cause temporary memory errors
- 2Clear the fault code and start the car. If the fault returns straight away, it is an active internal fault in the CEM
- 3With a diagnostic tool, read the CEM ID and see whether it responds. If it does not, there is a larger fault in the module
- 4Check that the earth point and supply to the CEM are secure and free from corrosion
- 5Replacing the CEM is for a workshop, which also codes the correct data into the new module
- 6After the replacement, check that the engine starts and that the fault code does not return
Symptoms you may notice1
- The engine does not start
