What does this fault code mean?
The fault code means that the control module storing the fault has no working link to the infotainment control module (ICM), or the link is disturbed. The keypad and the volume knob may then stop responding, since they are controlled through the infotainment system.
Possible causes
- The ICM receives no supply voltage
- Broken ground wire to the infotainment module
- Poor contact in the connections
- Open or shorted CAN wiring
- A module not intended for the car, such as a used unit with other software or hardware
What you can do
- 1Switch the ignition on and check the power and ground to the infotainment module. The display backlight should come on
- 2Check the fuses for the infotainment system in the rear relay and fuse centre
- 3Check the wire from the rear relay and fuse centre to the module for breaks and shorts to ground, plus the connectors for oxidation
- 4Check the module ground wire for breaks or a short to voltage
- 5If the fault returns, have a workshop check the CAN wiring. Replace the CEM only if testing shows it is faulty
