Volvo models this fault code applies to
This fault code has different meanings depending on model, model year or engine. Select the meaning that applies to your car.
Applies to the following models:
7 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The fault code means that the control module storing the fault has lost, or has disturbed, its link to the passenger door module (PDM). The passenger central locking button and switch panel may then stop working. Because the module runs in limited mode, the fault should be checked in good time.
Possible causes
- Supply voltage to the passenger door module (PDM) is missing
- Broken ground wire to the module
- Contact resistance in the connections
- Open or shorted CAN wiring
- A module not intended for the car, such as a used unit with other software or hardware
What you can do
- 1With the ignition on, run the window lift. The window should open or close, which shows whether the module has power
- 2Look for the passenger door module fuse in the rear relay and fuse centre and confirm it is intact
- 3Check the connectors in the rear relay and fuse centre and at the module for loose contact and corrosion
- 4Check that the ground wire has no break or short to voltage
- 5If the fault returns, have a workshop check the CAN wiring. Replace the CEM only if testing has shown it is damaged
Symptoms you may notice2
- The door cannot be operated from the central locking switch
- Passenger door switch panel does not work
What the fault can affect1
- Limited function in the passenger door module (limp-home mode)
