What does this fault code mean?
The fault code means that the control module storing the fault has no working link to the left side obstacle detection module (SODL), or the link is disturbed. The module covers the left rear side of the car, so the blind spot and cross traffic systems can stop working. These functions depend on the sensor and its link to the rest of the car.
Possible causes
- No voltage supply to the left side obstacle detection module (SODL)
- Broken ground wire to the SODL
- Poor contact in the connections
- Open or shorted CAN wiring
- A module not intended for the car, such as a used unit with other software or hardware
What you can do
- 1Check the power supply and body ground point to the SODL, and make sure the connectors are secure and free of oxidation
- 2Check the connector to the SODL for contact resistance, oxidation and looseness
- 3Check the ground wire for breaks or a short to voltage, and the body ground point
- 4If the fault returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the CAN wiring. Replace the CEM only if testing shows it is faulty
Symptoms you may notice2
- Blind spot information system (BLIS) does not function
- Cross Traffic Alert (CTA) does not function
