What does this fault code mean?
The fault code means that the control module storing the fault has missed the expected messages from the closing velocity module (CVM). The CVM supports the active safety and City Safety functions, which can brake when a collision is likely, so those functions may not work. The fault concerns the communication and not one individual control module.
Possible causes
- The CVM receives no supply voltage
- Broken ground wire to the CVM
- Poor contact in the connections
- Open or shorted CAN wiring
- A module not intended for the car, such as a used unit with other software or hardware
What you can do
- 1Check the power supply and ground point to the CVM and confirm the connectors are secure
- 2Check the CVM connector for contact resistance, oxidation and looseness
- 3Check the ground wire for breaks or a short to voltage
- 4Safety: City Safety can affect braking. Have a workshop check the system with diagnostic equipment. Replace the CEM only if testing shows it is damaged
Symptoms you may notice2
- Front monitoring, active safety and City Safety do not work
- City Safety does not intervene when needed
