What does this fault code mean?
The fault code means that the control module storing the fault has lost, or has disturbed, communication with the pedestrian protection module (PPM). A yellow warning symbol and text message may show in the display. The fault concerns the network rather than one individual control module.
Possible causes
- Voltage supply to the pedestrian protection module (PPM) is missing
- Broken ground wire to the PPM
- Contact resistance in the connections
- Open or shorted CAN wiring
- A module not intended for the car, such as a used unit with other software or hardware
What you can do
- 1Check the power supply and body ground point to the PPM, and confirm the connectors are secure
- 2Check the PPM connector for contact resistance, oxidation and looseness
- 3Check the ground wire for breaks or a short to voltage
- 4If the fault returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the CAN wiring. Replace the CEM only if testing shows it is damaged
Symptoms you may notice1
- Yellow warning symbol and text message in the display
