CEM-U040500 - Invalid Data Received From Cruise Control Module. General Failure Information. No sub type information
System
Central Electronic Module (CEM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
7 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The fault code means that CEM receives information from the forward sensing module (FSM), but the signal quality is lower than CEM accepts. The fault lies in the FSM, and that is where it should be traced. The adaptive cruise control may then stop working.
Possible causes
- The fault lies in the forward sensing module (FSM)
What you can do
- 1Check that the car's fuses are intact, and look up their positions in the handbook
- 2Test the relevant functions with buttons and controls or on a road test to see whether the fault shows
- 3With a diagnostic tool, read the fault codes in the forward sensing module and note anything linked to this code
- 4Have a workshop trace the FSM with diagnostic equipment, and do not replace the module until testing shows it is damaged
Symptoms you may notice1
- Adaptive cruise control does not work
