What does this fault code mean?
The fault code means that CEM has protected one output against a short circuit so many times that it has switched that output off completely. The cause is a short circuit on a cable driven by the output. Depending on the output, lights, steering, heating or other functions may stop working. The code should not be cleared until the cause is fixed.
Possible causes
- Short circuit on a cable driven by one of the outputs from CEM
What you can do
- 1Note which functions have stopped working, since they show which output and cable is affected
- 2Look for chafed or pinched wiring, or wiring that may touch metal, especially where the cable runs to the affected function
- 3Safety: brake lights are safety related. If they do not work, have a workshop repair the fault as soon as possible
- 4Fix the cause first, then clear the fault codes. Codes should not be cleared before the root fault is repaired. Replace the CEM only if testing shows it is damaged
Symptoms you may notice5
- Tail light or brake light does not work
- Headlights do not work or are misaligned
- Rear window wiper does not work
- Front fog lights or daytime running lights do not work
- Air conditioning does not work
What the fault can affect1
