Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
9 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The fault code means that CEM is missing a signal from one of the forward sensing, engine, brake or infotainment control modules. The adaptive cruise control and the collision braking support depend on these signals, so they may work with limited function or not at all. This is a secondary fault, and its cause lies in the module that does not send its signal.
Possible causes
- The fault lies in the module that is not sending its signal, such as the forward sensing, engine, brake or infotainment module
What you can do
- 1Read the frozen values of the fault code with a diagnostic tool to see which module is missing its signal
- 2Look for fault codes in that module, since the root fault lies there, and fix those first
- 3Safety: braking support is affected. Have a workshop check the system with diagnostic equipment soon
- 4The fault code can be cleared only after the root fault has been fixed and its code has been cleared
Symptoms you may notice5
- Collision and braking support does not work
- Adaptive cruise control does not work
- Cruise control cannot be engaged
- Brake pedal needs more force than normal
- Text message or yellow warning symbol in the display
