VOLVO
CEM-U201495 - Control Module Hardware. Component Failures. Incorrect assembly
System
Central Electronic Module (CEM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
7 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The central electronic module (CEM) has found that its own hardware is not correct. The fault is caused by the wrong hardware being fitted inside the module, and it is stored when the module starts up. Because the CEM controls several functions, including turn signals, instrument lighting and gauges, several parts of the car can be affected at once.
Possible causes
- Incorrect hardware is fitted in the central electronic module (CEM)
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it, then road test the car to see whether it comes back
- 2Check that the fuses for the turn signals and instrument lighting are intact
- 3Has any control module or wiring in the car been replaced or worked on recently? Tell the workshop, as the fault appears when the wrong hardware is in the module
- 4If the fault returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment replace and program the central electronic module (CEM)
Symptoms you may notice5
- Front turn signals do not work
- Rear turn signals do not work
- The car performs poorly and lacks power
- Instrument and button lighting does not work
- Some gauges do not work or show wrong readings
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
