Applies to the following models:
9 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The CEM hears nothing from the remote receiver (RRX) once the ignition comes on. The cause may be a cable break, a break in the power or earth supply to the receiver, or an internal fault in the receiver. The remote control will not work, and tyre pressure monitoring may stop functioning as well.
Possible causes
- A break in the wire linking the CEM with the remote receiver module (RRX)
- Open circuit in the power supply to the remote receiver module (RRX)
- Open circuit in the earth cable to the remote receiver module (RRX)
- Internal fault in the remote receiver module (RRX)
What you can do
- 1Try locking and unlocking with several remote keys to rule out a faulty key
- 2If a low battery warning for the remote keys appears, replace the battery in the key
- 3Check that the connectors at the central electronic module (CEM) and the remote receiver (RRX) are secure and free from oxidation
- 4Follow the cable between the CEM and the remote receiver and check it is intact along its full length
- 5Check that the earth wire from the remote receiver to the body is intact
- 6Use a multimeter to confirm supply voltage at the remote receiver with the ignition on; if it is missing, have a workshop check the wiring
Symptoms you may notice4
- The car cannot be operated with the remote control
- Tyre pressure monitoring does not work at all and its warning comes on
- A yellow warning symbol and a text message appear in the display
- The tyre pressure warning lights up or behaves abnormally
