What does this fault code mean?
The central electronic module (CEM) has found a software fault in itself, so it is not working as it should. The code does not say which type of fault it is, so troubleshooting starts with the software. The fault is stored while the ignition is on and can stop the engine from starting and cause several gauges and lights to stop working.
Possible causes
- Software fault in the central electronic module (CEM)
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it, then road test the car to see whether it comes back
- 2Check that the battery is charged and the terminals are tight, since low voltage can cause the module to malfunction
- 3Has the car recently had new software or an update that was interrupted? Tell the workshop
- 4If the fault returns, have a workshop reload the module software with the latest version
