CEM-U210753 - Collision Mitigation By Braking. System Programming Failures. Deactivated
System
Central Electronic Module (CEM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
9 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The central electronic module (CEM) constantly monitors collision mitigation by braking. The fault is stored when the signal from FSM, ECM or BCM is wrong. The function is then deactivated, and the brake pedal may need more force than normal. The code points to the module that is sending the wrong signal.
Possible causes
- The fault most likely sits in the sending unit, for example the front sensing unit (FSM), the engine ECM or the brake BCM
What you can do
- 1If you have a diagnostic tool, read the codes in the forward sensing module, engine control module and brake control module and clear those first
- 2Clear the code in the CEM after the other codes have been dealt with, then road test to see whether it returns
- 3Safety: the braking system must work fully, so do not drive with a brake pedal that feels abnormally hard without having a workshop check it
- 4If the fault returns after the other codes are cleared, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the central electronic module (CEM)
Symptoms you may notice2
- Collision mitigation and brake assistance do not work
- The brake pedal needs more force than normal
