CEM-U300068
VOLVO
CEM-U300068 - Control Module. Algorithm Based Failures. Event information
System
Central Electronic Module (CEM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
2 modelsV40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–)
Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
On the V40 this code is event controlled and is intended as information. It does not mean there is a fault in the module where it is stored. It is set when the central electronic module (CEM) has restarted too many times during engine start, which can happen when battery voltage is low.
Possible causes
- Low battery voltage in the car when the engine starts
What you can do
- 1Start with the battery: check that it is charged, since low battery voltage at start is the cause of this code
- 2Check that the battery terminals and earth connections are tight and free from corrosion
- 3Road test the car after the battery check and see whether the symptoms have gone
- 4If the symptoms remain even with a healthy battery, have a workshop read the module codes with diagnostic equipment
Symptoms you may notice5
- The engine does not start, or cranks without starting
- The car performs poorly and lacks power, especially when pulling away
- The car hesitates, surges or feels jerky when driving
- Cruise control cannot be engaged
- Gauges show wrong readings or do not work
What the fault can affect1
- The functions of the central electronic module (CEM) are restricted
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
