Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsC30 (2007–2013), C30 Electric (2011–2013), C70 (2006–2013), S40 (2004–2013), V50 (2004–2013)
What does this fault code mean?
The heater makes a start attempt, and if no flame is detected a second attempt follows. If the second attempt also fails, the heater shuts down and the code is set. The cause may be a clogged fuel filter, a damaged flame sensor or a damaged heater.
Possible causes
- Damaged flame sensor
- Clogged fuel filter
- Damaged heater
What you can do
- 1Check that the tank has enough fuel for the heater to be allowed to start
- 2Check that the battery is in good condition and the terminals are tight, since the heater also needs the right voltage to start
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool, read the fuel level and battery voltage and compare them with the permitted range for starting
- 4Look for damaged or pinched fuel lines to the heater; work on fuel lines should be done by a workshop because of the risk of fuel spill
- 5If the fault returns, have a workshop check the fuel filter, the flame sensor and the combustion air flow in the heater
Symptoms you may notice1
- The parking heater does not work
What the fault can affect1
- After several failed start attempts in a row, the heater locks
