Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsC30 (2007–2013), C30 Electric (2011–2013), C70 (2006–2013), S40 (2004–2013), V50 (2004–2013)
What does this fault code mean?
The heater has gone out in an impermitted way while running at full output, which sets the code and switches the heater off. The cause may be a damaged fuel supply or air pockets in the fuel line, an intake pipe in the fuel tank that has moved out of position, or a clogged or damaged flame sensor.
Possible causes
- Damaged fuel supply or air pockets in the fuel line
- The intake pipe to the fuel tank has moved out of position
- Flame sensor clogged with soot
- Damaged flame sensor
What you can do
- 1Check that the tank has enough fuel for the heater to run at full output
- 2Clear the code and start the heater again; if the code returns, the fault is still present
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool, read whether a flame was detected once the heater has finished running, and note whether it went out earlier
- 4Look for damaged or pinched fuel lines and for signs of air in the fuel line; fuel line work should be done by a workshop
- 5If the fault returns, have a workshop check the intake pipe in the fuel tank, the flame sensor and the combustion air flow
Symptoms you may notice2
- Poor heating in the passenger compartment
- The parking heater does not work
What the fault can affect2
- When the code is set the heater is switched off
- If the heater is started again, it makes a new start attempt
