VOLVO
CPM-B1D2313 - Overheat Sensor. General Electrical Failures. Circuit open
System
Combustion Pre-heater Module (CPM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
7 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The CPM keeps an eye on the heater's coolant temperature through the overheat sensor. To protect the heater, the fuel pump stops when the sensor trips. The fault is set by an open circuit in the wiring to the overheat sensor, and the heater's function is blocked.
Possible causes
- Coolant level too low
- Electrical fault
- Damaged coolant pump
- Damaged cooling circuit
- Damaged overheat sensor
What you can do
- 1Check the coolant level and mixture, and top up with the correct mixture if needed
- 2Check all wiring to the overheat sensor visually for damage and make sure the insulation is intact
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the cable to the sensor is continuous along its length; a break means the cable must be repaired or replaced
- 4Check that the coolant hoses are not deformed
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the coolant pump, the cooling circuit and the sensor
Symptoms you may notice5
- The parking heater does not work
- The rear of the cabin is not warm enough
- The front of the cabin is not warm enough
- The heater does not work
- The cabin heats up slowly
What the fault can affect1
- The heater's function is blocked
