What does this fault code mean?
The combustion preheater module (CPM) measures the resistance of the glow plug. The fault is set when the resistance is too low and/or the glow plug is shorted to earth. The cause may be a damaged glow plug, damaged cables or poor connections. The heater's function is then blocked.
Possible causes
- Faulty cables and connections to the glow plug
- Damaged glow plug
- The cable between the CPM and the glow plug is shorted to earth
What you can do
- 1Check that the glow plug is seated properly and shows no signs of corrosion
- 2Check the cable to the glow plug visually for damage
- 3With the ignition off, check the glow plug connectors: they should be secure and free from oxidation
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the cable to the glow plug has no contact with earth (the body); if it does, the cable is shorted
- 5Have a workshop download the latest software to the module and then recheck the glow plug
Symptoms you may notice3
