What does this fault code mean?
The fault code means the heater control module has found an open circuit in the signal cable to the glow plug. The parking heater cannot be started until the code has been erased and the fault has been repaired. The fault is most often the glow plug itself or the cable between the control module and the glow plug.
Possible causes
- Damaged glow plug
- Open circuit in the cable between the heater control module and the glow plug
What you can do
- 1Erase the fault code and start the heater. If the glow plug stays cold, the fault is still present; if it heats, it was only intermittent.
- 2With the ignition off, check that the connectors at the glow plug and on the heater are firmly seated and free from looseness, oxidation or corrosion.
- 3Look for visible damage to the cable between the heater and the glow plug, such as chafing or kinks.
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the cable is not broken between the two connectors. If it has an open circuit, the cable needs to be repaired or replaced.
- 5Replace the glow plug if it is damaged or if its connector is damaged.
- 6If the fault remains after checking the wiring, have a workshop check the heater control module and the heater software.
