Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
2 modelsV40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–)
Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
The fault code is set when the heater control module registers too high a signal on the cable to the fuel pump. This points to the cable being short-circuited to battery voltage, or to a damaged pump. The heater cannot be started until the fault code has been erased.
Possible causes
- The cable between the heater control module and the fuel pump is short-circuited to battery voltage
- Damaged fuel pump
What you can do
- 1With the ignition off, check the cables and connectors between the heater and the fuel pump for damage, chafing and corrosion.
- 2Disconnect the fuel pump connector and check that the contacts are clean and free from looseness or oxidation.
- 3With the ignition off, use a multimeter: voltage on the pump cable means a short to positive, which must be repaired.
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: activate the fuel pump and listen for it to start. If it does not start, the fault is still present.
- 5Replace the fuel pump if it is damaged, or have a workshop do it.
- 6If the fault remains after checking the wiring, have a workshop check the heater control module.
Symptoms you may notice1

What the fault can affect1
