What does this fault code mean?
The heater control module has found an open circuit in the cable to the fuel pump. The heater cannot be started until the fault code has been erased. The cause may be a broken cable, a loose or oxidised connector, or a damaged pump.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the cable between the heater control module and the fuel pump
- Contact resistance, oxidation or loose connections
- Damaged fuel pump
What you can do
- 1Erase the fault code and start the heater. If the fuel pump does not start, the fault is still present. If it starts, the fault has only been present earlier.
- 2With the ignition off, check the connectors at the fuel pump and at the heater for loose, oxidised or unlatched contacts.
- 3Look for damage to the cable from the heater to the fuel pump, such as chafing or breaks.
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the cable between the heater and the fuel pump is not broken. If it is broken, the cable needs to be repaired or replaced.
- 5Use gloves and safety goggles if you remove the pump, as fuel can spill. Replace the pump if it is damaged, or have a workshop do it.
- 6If the wiring is in good condition, have a workshop check the fuel pump with diagnostic equipment.
