Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
7 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The heater control module has found an electrical fault on the fuel pump, for example a short to battery voltage or an open circuit. The heater's function is blocked, and the heating in the cabin can be poor. The fault is often a loose or corroded connector or damaged wiring.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance and oxidation in the connections
- Open circuit in the wiring
- Wiring short-circuited to battery voltage
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuse for the auxiliary heater is intact.
- 2With the ignition off, check the connectors and wiring to the fuel pump for corrosion, looseness and damage.
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the wiring to the fuel pump is not broken and has no battery voltage when the ignition is off.
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: activate the fuel pump and listen for it to start. If it does not start, the fault is probably still present.
- 5If the heater works during a test drive, the fault may be intermittent. Then check the connectors and wiring again after a few drives.
- 6If the fault remains after checking the wiring, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment investigate further.
Symptoms you may notice2
- Poor heating in the cabin
- The parking or auxiliary heater does not work when it is activated
What the fault can affect1
- The heater's function is blocked
