VOLVO
CPM-B1D2612 - Combustion Air Blower. General Electrical Failures. Circuit short to battery
System
Combustion Pre-heater Module (CPM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
2 modelsV40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–)
Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
The heater control module has registered too high a signal on the cable to the combustion fan, which points to a short to battery voltage. The heater cannot be started until the fault code has been erased.
Possible causes
- The cable between the heater control module and the combustion fan is short-circuited to battery voltage
What you can do
- 1With the ignition off, check the cable from the heater to the fan and the connectors for chafing, damage and corrosion.
- 2With the ignition off, use a multimeter: voltage on the fan cable means a short to positive.
- 3Check that the fan wheel is not jammed or stuck and that it turns without resistance.
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: activate the heater fan and listen for a buzzing sound. If nothing is heard, the fault is probably still present.
- 5Replace the fan motor if it is damaged, or have a workshop do it.
- 6If the fault remains after checking the wiring, have a workshop check the heater control module.
Symptoms you may notice1
- The parking heater does not work
What the fault can affect1
- The heater cannot be started until the fault code has been erased
